Where is your South Coast business based?
We operate gorgeous luxury holiday houses in both Gerringong and Jervis Bay.
Sundara Beach House on Werri Beach and Mandala Beach House in Callala Bay, along with our newly launched holiday house, Uma on Werri, just a short walk from Sundara.
Tell us about it and why people love it so much?
We launched Sundara way back in 2015 and we were brand new to the world of holiday letting! I still remember the buzz I felt when we received our first booking and it’s been a fun and rewarding journey so far.
We love hosting guests, and we find it’s particularly rewarding when guests choose our houses as the location for special family celebrations including milestone birthdays and wedding anniversaries. We love connecting our guests to caterers and other fabulous operators and directing to our favourite cafes and restaurants and shops too.
Sundara is a seven-bedroom/five-bathroom house with a heated swimming pool/spa and games room with pool table. Directly opposite Werri Beach.
Based on the success of Sundara, we decided to add another holiday house to our offering. We searched for the right location for a couple of years and considered established houses in Werri Beach, Berry and Lake Conjola. Finally, the right opportunity presented in Callala Bay, and we purchased a run-down shack and designed and purpose-built a holiday house for groups of families and friends.
Mandala launched in late 2019 and is a six bedroom, five en-suites plus powder room, heated swimming pool and two lounge rooms, covered BBQ area.
Give us some examples of what makes your business unique?
Sundara and Mandala are beautiful houses in beautiful locations. The houses have ocean views and are located by the beach/bay.
Both Mandala and Sundara and very popular and I put it down to the high number of bedroom/bathrooms plus the two lounge areas plus other spaces that allow guests to escape from the rest of the group if required.
Interior stylist, Jessi Eve helped us create a relaxed holiday vibe that is stylish, yet also family friendly. We provide guests with travel cots, highchairs, stepping stools, baby bath plus indoor climbing equipment including a pikler triangle, ramp and discovery cube and playmat on request (no additional charge).
A lot of our guests tend to return year after year or if they are Sundara guests, they mix it up with a stay at Mandala and vice versa.
You have so many great reviews, what’s your secret
We really try to get to know our guests and ensure their needs are met and exceeded when they stay with us.
We also take feedback from guests very seriously and we have implemented many suggestions from our guests. In fact, the fifth bathroom and bunk room were inspired by a suggestion from one of our regular guests!
Why do you love being part of South Coast Experiences?
Although I grew up on the South Coast and know the region very well, I am always surprised and delighted by the hidden gems/experiences and new operators uncovered in the South Coast Experience newsletters.
It’s an honour to feature amongst such a high calibre of businesses. Kate also features stunning photography on the website/socials, and we love working with other members to raise the profile of our stunning South Coast region and collectively attract more visitors.
Any plans or announcements you would like to share?
We let the cat out of the bag in Q1, but we are so excited to have launched our third holiday house this summer.
