Batemans Bay

The Indigenous name for Batemans Bay is Yangary. A number of sites surrounding the bay are considered culturally significant to the Aboriginal peoples.

Batemans Bay is one of South Coast's larger towns. This vibrant community is known for its wonderful seafood, as well as for the Clyde River national park, which is a popular spot for kayaking, oysters and fishing. The beaches are part of the Batemans Bay snorkelling trail – with beautiful reefs and native fish – while the cycleway is a wonderful walk that explores wetlands, passing waterfront cafes and restaurants. For a different kind of nature encounter, the birdlife animal park is home to wombats koalas and kangaroo, and nearby Mogo Zoo is a great animal sanctuary where you can admire many of NSW's native species.  This town is really transitioning into a wonderful destination that still has the country coastal charm.
