About

Join Gumaraa and Sevenmarks Gallery in celebration of NAIDOC Week this July to learn about significant Indigenous cultural tools, songs and dances. Storytelling and painting 6 – 14 Years Indigenous art is centred around storytelling. It is used to communicate knowledge of the land, events and Indigenous beliefs. Traditional symbols and iconography are used as an alternate way of recording and sharing stories of cultural significance. This workshop is led by experienced Aboriginal artist Richard Campbell, as he teaches children about the meanings of these symbols and how to use them to tell stories through the art of Aboriginal painting.
